Nepali Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal and Banaras Hindu University (BHU) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), for setting up of Nepal Chair at BHU with the aim of supporting Nepali languages, literature and cultural studies. The MOU, signed on Monday, deals with the consolidation of Nepalis academic and institutional development in BHU.
Present on the occasion were charge de affair, KN Adhikari, and counseller (cultural) from Embassy of Nepal, Arjun R Pant along with Nepali faculty members of BHU and Vice Chancellor, BHU, Dr Lalji Singh.
According to the MoU, the ministry of education, government of Nepal will nominate one professor/associate professor/assistant professor with the support of the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu for a period of three years, which may be extended as per the need and performance of the professor. The professor will be posted in the department of Indian Languages, faculty of Arts, BHU. He would guide the research students about Nepali languages, literature and culture.
Besides, the Nepal Chair in the university will contribute in the field of institutional development and consolidation of Nepali languages, literature, studies and other relevant activities under the domain of Nepalese Education.
