Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) is understood to have plans to launch design innovation center under the meta-university concept, similar to India’s first Meta university course- masters’ in mathematics education launched by Delhi University & Jamia Millia University.
IIT-D is deliberating with JNU for collaborative research activities as a part of the project has decided to set up design innovation center under meta university concept by next year, said a reliable source. HRD Ministry has already approved the proposal and has offered a fund of Rs 25 crore for building it. The proposed design innovation center will empower students with entrepreneurial bend to convert their ideas into products.
Though the institute is yet to chalk out the modalities, indications are that it aims at starting research collaboration with JNU in the field of climate change, public health and education. Under the new academic programs to be launched by IIT-D, graduating students will receive joint degrees carrying logos of all the 4 participating institutes.
IIT-D is also celebrating its 43rd convocation on 28 October 2012 where about 1786 pass-outs will be awarded the degrees.
