Prime Minister had invited the IIT Faculty Federation members for a meeting on Friday 15 June. The All India Faculty Federation has been opposing the centre’s ‘one nation one test’ proposal for admission in IITs and other centrally funded engineering institutes. Meanwhile, Delhi Alumni Association expressed hope that something would come out in the meeting to protect IIT’s autonomy, in response to this “very positive development” in the CET row. Delhi Alumni Association had earlier threatened to move the court. Now they are also seeking a separate audience with the Prime Minister.
HRD Minister, who is currently on a visit to US, had ruled out the rollback on the decision taken on May 28 for the common entrance test in the new format, JEE main and JEE advance with giving appropriate weightage to the Class XII board marks. While ruling out the possibility of the rollback, the Minister had expressed his willingness to sort out the differences and objections. “Government has no intentions to impinge on the autonomy of IITs,” he had said.
