JEE Advanced 2014 will be held this year about a week earlier as compared to 2013. It was announced Wednesday that, the entrance exam for admission to IITs will be held on 25th May 2014.
Also while announcing the exam schedule, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) clarified that the proposal to conduct the JEE Advanced as Computer Based Test (CBT) has been dropped for the time being; which means that JEE Advanced 2014 will be a paper-pencil test. It will have two papers in Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) format. The first paper will be conducted at 9 AM and second, on the same day at 2 PM. Both the papers, aimed at testing comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates, will be of 3 hours duration each.
It may be recalled that only those candidates who are in top 150,000 of first layer test JEE Main will be eligible to appear in the JEE Advanced. This nation wide pattern of exams for admissions to engineering stream was implemented in 2013. JEE Main will act as gateway for admissions to Centre Funded National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
JEE (Main)-2014 will be conducted by CBSE on behalf of the JEE Apex Board on April 6, in both online and offline modes. The paper 1 of the JEE Main will be held in both offline and online mode but paper 2 will be a pen and paper test only.
According a report filed by TOI, the start of online application for JEE Main will begin from November 15 and end on December 16. The result of the JEE Main will be declared on May 3. The website for eligible candidates to register for JEE (Advanced) will open from May 4. The registration process will end on May 9.
