According to an update put on the website of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), students aspiring for admission to IITs, NITs and other centrally-funded technical institutions can now fill online forms for the first of two tier entrance exam, JEE Main and submit the same till December 24. The earlier date from closing the online registration was December 15.
The date has been extended to allow more students apply for JEE Main who could not do it so far due to various reasons, the official announcement said. However the date of JEE Main examination remains April 7 as announced earlier, CBSE said. The CBSE has further notified that the date for filling up of application for JEE (Main)-2013 will not be extended any further.
The admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, other centrally-funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by several participating State Governments, and several other Institutions shall include the performance in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main).
It will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by IITs.
For admission to NITs, Centrally-Funded Technical Institutions like IIITs etc and other participating institutions, the merit/rank list shall be prepared based on 40% weightage to school Boards marks in class XII or equivalent examination and 60% weightage to JEE(Main). The weightage to school Board/Equivalent examination marks shall be considered only after normalisation.The JEE Advanced will be organised by the IITs including Kanpur, Delhi, Mumbai, Roorkee, Guhawati, Kharagpur, Khozikode on June 2.
