The first ever National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admissions to medical undergraduate course (NEET-UG) has been rescheduled ONLY in the state of Karnataka. The exam which was scheduled to be conducted all over the country on May 5, will now be conducted on May 18, Saturday, in the state of Karnataka, whereas for the other states the nationwide medical entrance will be conducted as per earlier schedule on May 5.
Karnataka is going to state assembly polls on May 5 and hence it necessitated the change in date only for that state; the order passed to that effect by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) says. The change in the date has been approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The CBSE was conducting the common NEET-UG Exam on behalf of Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India for admission to all medical and dental colleges in the country.
This is the first-ever common entrance test for MBBS and BDS courses where over 10 lakh candidates are likely to appear from across the country.
