Normally all the Indian universities offer BSc and MSc degrees to students after a three-year undergraduate and two-year post graduate programs in science subjects or mathematics.However, starting this session, the Allahabad University (AU) will be awarding a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from this year, with the meritorious students of this program also eligible for a Master of Science (MS) degree. Besides MS, those meritorious students would also be getting an opportunity to enroll for the DPhil program without appearing in the entrance test.
While continuing with the legacy BSc and MSc degrees, the new degrees (BS & MS) will be awarded by the AU under the new Globalization and Development Studies Dual degree program that the university is launching from this session.
Under the new program, students scoring more than 40% but less than 60% marks will be awarded BS degree. The students scoring above 60% marks in BS will undertake a six-month course work and those completing it successfully would be enrolled in the DPhil programme. Students who fail to complete the course work will, on the other hand, complete another project of six months and become eligible for MS degree.
