The Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) on Friday, June 1, 2012 asked the government to bar foreign educational institutions in India. Sources revealed that the CPI-M believes that the HRD minister Kapil Sibal is trying to bypass the parliament regarding the issue before his visit to the US.
Kapil Sibal is scheduled to attend the Indo-US CEO Forum meeting in the US, and sources disclosed that he is seeking methods to fulfill the demand of US educational institutes to enter India by introducing liberal policies that will not require the approval of the parliament.
Officials from the CPI-M have warned the minister against making such a call, stating that the minister would be bypassing the parliament by doing so. The matter is still pending before the parliament.
The CPI-M mentioned that the minister should instead take steps against foreign institutes currently operating in India illegally and take strict action against them.
