Indira Gandhi National Open University has launched one year post graduate diploma in book publishing with an objective to provide opportunity for people aspiring for self employment in the field of publication.
This program will also help professionals in skill up-gradation and skill acquisition in various aspects of publishing. At present there is no such course available which may lead to post graduate diploma / degree in this specialized area and hence this unique program has been designed by IGNOU, which will train publishing professionals in marketable skills covering various areas of publishing, specialized editing, copy editing, proof reading online and distribution etc.
This course will focus on emerging technologies in book publishing and will also give an opportunity to obtain specialization in editing books for children, scientific, technical & medical books and text books. This programme will also deal in application of information technology in publishing and will focus on various legal aspects of publishing.
The most unique aspect of this programme is the month long training / apprenticeship at a publishing house, which will carry a small stipend. This training would be under auspices of Federation of Indian Publishers with whom IGNOU has a tie-up and trainees would get a joint certificate from both IGNOU and FIB on successful completion of training.
This program will be offered only in July session. Any graduate interested in various aspects of publishing with the working knowledge of word-processing can apply for this program. Admission application forms are available at IGNOU Regional Centre and other study centres.
