After around 80 students and their parents aired their grievances about irregularities in the procedure and filing of their complaints with Pravesh Niyantran Samiti (PNS) , admissions granted to students in private and unaided medical colleges in State of Maharashtra, after the second round have been made provisional until further order. Most of those colleges against which the complaints have been received by PNS are owned by politicians. The confirmations of those admissions are subject to scrutiny and approval of the PNS.
Associations for Private Unaided Medical and Dental Colleges conducted only two rounds of admissions instead of usual three on the basis of merits in ASSO-CET scores, as per an order by passed by Supreme Court. Students, who did not get a seat in two rounds, had to apply to all the colleges left with vacant seats. However, aggrieved students have alleged that some institutes did not follow the rules. While certain institutes ended their admissions within three days, others claimed not to have vacant seats and some asked for donations.
PNS held the hearing on the complaints on Friday. PNS has asked the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences not to consider the admissions in the current status. However students are not content with the PNS move and some parents, joined with the Forum for Fairness in Education are planning to move the court.
