India will play host to 10th International Junior Science Olympiads (IJSO) at Mumbai in December 2013. IJSO is a prestigious world competition held annually for ten days in the natural sciences for 15-year-old students from across the globe. Organizers said that Indian students had fared well in all the Olympiads organized so far. About 300 students from 50 countries will participate in the event.
The students have already started preparations for the big event as the four-day orientation program for the Olympiads came to an end on Sunday at the science city, in Ahmedabad. Prof Vijay Singh, the national coordinator of the Olympiad and scientist at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education, Mumbai, was guest at the orientation program for the students preparing for national and international events at the science city.
Informing about the initiative, Narottam Sahoo, senior scientist at the science city, said that they had organized a four-day orientation program on Science Olympiads for 200 students who have topped in various districts in class X and are now in class XI in science stream.
