The United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) has announced Fulbright Distinguished Awards 2014 for school teachers. The program is open for primary, middle and secondary school teachers as well as for Primary and secondary level library media specialists, guidance counselors, curriculum specialists, special education coordinators and teacher trainers. Administrators and academic coordinators who spend at least 50% of their time in classroom teaching are also eligible to apply, according to a release from the USIEF.
The duration of the program will mid August 2014 to mid December 2014, during which the selected teachers from Chile, Finland, India, Israel, Mexico, Morocco and Singapore will be placed at a US host university’s graduate school of education.
International teachers who are selected to participate in the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program will 1) enroll in advanced undergraduate or graduate level classes, 2) work toward the completion of a capstone project of their own design, 3) observe classes, team-teach and/or conduct seminars or workshops in local schools for US teachers and students; and 4) engage in other teaching related activities. Upon returning home, participants will be expected to share the knowledge and experience gained on the program with teachers and students in their home schools and within their communities.
Program costs such as tuition, room and board and transportation are covered by the Fulbright grant. Participants will receive a maintenance allowance designed to assist with the costs of living during the US program.
